Core Values
ICB’s purpose is to train men in Christ-likeness as the standard for manhood. This purpose must be reflected in the value system of the organization. A value is a principle, standard, or quality considered worthwhile, desirable and important to the possessor.
Our values determine our behavior, and behavior is defined as the manner in which something functions or operates.
The preceding core values must be rooted in the heart of every ICB man; they represent the external behaviors of an internal transformation. The ICB man leans not to his own understanding but relies on the Holy Spirit to guide, modify and correct his behaviors.
The enlightenment we receive from The Word of God teaches us what Jesus Christ valued, and we are called to share those values as Christians and ICB men.
Once our values and our behavior are in agreement they produce peace. That peace surpasses all rational human understanding because it is divine peace which is spiritually discerned.
Integrity – An unimpaired condition, a steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.
For the ICB man integrity represents his steadfast adherence to the strict moral and ethical code of conduct imparted to him by the Word of God (The Holy Bible), which is his ultimate guide in all matters concerning beliefs and our moral/ethical conduct.
An unimpaired condition is not damaged or diminished by any situation, event, or circumstance. An ICB man strives to walk uprightly despite all the temptations and false images of manhood that have damaged and diminished the integrity of the men of this age.
Jesus overcame the world to empower Christians to do the same. The ICB man must distinguish himself by reflecting the integrity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That integrity must consist of uniformity in character, attitude, and behavior in alignment with Jesus Christ – the only true standard of manhood.
In addition, the key to effective and lasting leadership is integrity. People will only follow someone they believe is steadfast in their beliefs and those beliefs reflected in their lifestyle. Thus ICB men must strive for discipline in all areas of life, and discipline yields consistency. Consistency allows others to trust us and to feel secure in our leadership and service.
Some examples of integrity under pressure from Scripture:
Job in his suffering, (Job 2:3) Joseph in dealing with Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39) Boaz and Ruth (Ruth chapters 3 and 4) Nehemiah in dealing with oppressors (Nehemiah 13) Jesus Christ in the Wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11 & Gospel of Luke 4:1-13)
In dealing with your brother - Matthew 5:23-24
Respect – The state of being regarded with honor or esteem, and ones willingness to show consideration or appreciation. Men of the ICB are raising the standard of manhood that our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated. ICB men know that the standard that we set will produce the degree of respect that we receive from our families and in our communities. In the media, school systems, and other areas of the world men are mocked because they have fallen short in their words and deeds. ICB strives to walk worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ and thus lives in such a way that commands respect.
ICB men honor and esteem their fellow man because they understand that whether an individual is saved or not, all men are in the image of God. ICB men seek to dwell peacefully with all men, and to reclaim territory for the Kingdom of God by ministering, preaching, and teaching those yet to be saved about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Jesus loved us before the beginning of time; he considered our need for His divine sacrifice before we were born. ICB men honor and respect God by honoring and respecting all of the people and things that God has Created.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NIV 11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Courtesy - Willingness or generosity in providing something needed. Courtesy is not simply a matter of being “nice” or “cordial” although an important characteristic. No, it is deeper and far more significant. But ICB understands that our vocabulary must be redeemed from the complacency of our times.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son” … That is the ultimate act of courtesy! (John 3:16)
That God the Father would sacrifice His Son, and that God the Son would condescend to become a human being, all this to save those who were once His enemies because of Sin! And the courtesy – the indulgence of God – did not stop here but God the Holy Spirit was poured out on us so that we might be built up to the holy dwelling of the Almighty!
ICB men understand the love of God because they have experienced it first hand. In spite of the fact that we were sinners God loved us, in spite of the fact that the world didn’t accept him Jesus died for us. ICB men think and act in accordance with the will of God in spite of all situations and circumstances produced by their environment.
As Jesus Christ did the ICB men live to serve the needs of our families, communities and the church for as long as we have breath in our lungs.
Honesty – Characterized by truth; not false, not deceptive or fraudulent. Truthfulness; sincerity: of good repute. Only courageous men are honest men; honest with God, themselves, and with others. We are honest about our weaknesses, our limitations, and honest with the one who is our strength. Nothing built on a lie will stand in this lifetime or in eternity. Whatever is done in darkness will be revealed in the light and so ICB have put away secret and shameful ways to live in the light of the Truth.
ICB men understand that truth is the core of Honesty. The Holy Bible reveals that Jesus is Truth; Jesus is the ultimate reality by which all things are sustained. Truth, then is not only a set of ideas but a living person by and for which we have been made.
Therefore, in a world of moral ambiguity and character deterioration ICB men are called to prize honesty in their hearts and allow it to prevail in all aspects of their character and their lives. Being honest, being truthful, sets us free to be the men God has foreordained us to be.
In life we recognize this principle; that the trust of our families and communities is extended to the degree of our being truthful. Honesty then secures our position of influence and servant-leadership in every sphere of our lives.
Loyalty – A feeling or attitude of devoted attachment and affection. Being and remaining faithful to a person, ideal, custom, cause, or duty. Loyalty was once in our world a given standard for manhood across every culture and every age. Traitors and the cowardly were not considered men at all. Today men find it easy to walk away from their calling, family, community and their church.
Men are not taught the virtue of loyalty or the necessity of loyalty to unlock the keys to living this life in and for the Kingdom of God. ICB men are called to loyalty greater than all other, to a Shining King who is the Only One worthy of all our loyalty, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. From that loyalty flows the anointing, strength and commitment to every one of our callings on this earth, the call to be a man, a son, a husband, a father, a leader and exemplar of manhood in the world.
Christianity is a Person embodied in the man known as Jesus Christ and an ideal in it’s pursuit of righteousness as a state of being. Christianity is a custom as we continue to follow in the path laid out for us through the Word of God. It is a cause because Christianity’s purpose is to reunite men to their creator, because of their severed fellowship caused by sin. Lastly Christianity is a duty because it calls all Christians to go into every area of the world to preach the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
ICB men must be faithful to all the aspects of their faith, and devote themselves completely to the person, the ideal, the custom, the cause and the duty of our Christian heritage.
